Spartan Pride Crowned Champions After Gritty Run Through Playoffs
The 2025 Spring basketball season is officially in the books—and what a season it was! From standout individual performances to unforgettable playoff battles, this year delivered excitement from start to finish.
Spartan Pride Survives Classic Semi-Final Rematch
After clinching a playoff spot with a 6-4 record, #3-seeded Spartan Pride faced off against the #2 Rupert Wranglers (9-1) in a highly anticipated semifinal rematch. Fans came in a hot gym on June 22 to see if history would repeat itself after last year’s epic three-game, four-overtime series. This time, both teams again pushed each other to the limit, but Spartan Pride emerged victorious 2-1, punching their ticket to the finals.
Championship Showdown: Team Elite vs. Spartan Pride
The stage was set for a finals clash between the top-seeded Team Elite (9-1) and the surging Spartan Pride. The championship series lived up to the hype, with both teams trading blows in a true dog fight. Team Elite’s Damien Tunstalle delivered a jaw-dropping 60-point performance in Game 2, but it wasn’t enough to stop the determined Spartans. Spartan Pride dug deep, showcased their depth and heart, and ultimately pulled off the upset to claim the championship crown.
Will Gabbert Named Finals MVP
Spartan Pride’s Will Gabbert stepped up when it mattered most, earning Finals MVP honors through clutch play and leadership. With this championship, Spartan Pride celebrates their third league title—a testament to their resilience and winning culture.
League Awards Cap Off a Remarkable Season
Earlier this week, the league announced its Spring ‘25 Awards, highlighting the top performers of the season. Adam Seams (Spartan Pride) was honored as both Regular Season MVP and Offensive Player of the Year. Eric Peyatt (Team Elite) took home Defensive Player of the Year, while Damien Dixon (Rupert Wranglers) was named Sixth Man of the Year. Rookie of the Year went to Chris Gabbert (The Rockets), and Matthew Thomas (Hill City Hoopers) earned the Heart and Hustle Award.
